Annesha Edwards-Carter

Annesha Edwards-Carter began her academic career at Manhattanville College in the fall of 2009.  She is a senior with a double major in Sociology and Political Science and is currently a member of the Student Government Association as well as the Castle Scholars Honors Program. It was through Manhattanville College that she began to take women’s studies courses and was enlightened about lives of so many women throughout the world.  Through these many courses she has gained an understanding of gender and has since helped promote empowerment amongst women. Since becoming enlightened she has devoted a large amount of time and research to not only educate herself but others about the stratification of women in society.  She admires World Women Global Council forum as it truly leverages the wisdom of the elderly and energy of the youth, and she feels blessed to be a part of an entity so passionately dedicated to making a change by thinking globally and acting locally. Annesha plans to contribute by sharing her blog entries so that her voice can be heard. It is her hope that by promoting awareness to the many issues that impact women across the world, will help establish a more sustainable society for the countless generations of girls and women to come
