The Youth Initiative for Women Leadership aims to introduce positive role models into the lives of children. The idea is to understand the issue and work at a grassroots level to bring about change.
In this project, young boys in high school took upon the passion to bring change in shelters that help women who are victims of domestic abuse. They cleaned up a shelter, gathered books, and made a bookshelf and arranged the bookshelf as an educational unit for distressed moms who come to the shelter. “The children need to read more rather than watch TV,” said one of the volunteers. Being mentored by Big Brothers who didn’t know but cared about the yound children gave them love and hope!
